Fantatic Serge Gainsbourg penned lounge track.... A welcome break from Brigette's more bubblygummy tracks (B-side to the hilorious Harley Davidson single, complete with SFX)

from ORIGINAL RECORDING REMASTERED (Polygram 542596)
available on CD - yes!

27 Jan 04 ·n-jeff: Great song, easily the highlight of the cheesy picture disc compilation I have. I particularly like the way the swirling of the organ reacts with the slapback echo on her voice. It has quite a delerious quality.
Melody  performed by Serge Gainsbourg  1971

Stunning melancholy and wonderously modern opener to Gainsboroug's concept album about jailbait love, road accidents & brightly coloured rolls-royces - a masterpiece...

from L'Histoire de Melody Nelson (Mercury)

a couple of great spy jazz tracks from the movie "si j'etais un espion" by my favourite old pervert..funky guitar/strings combination followed by a morricone-like piano part. (this entire soundtrack seems to be quite inspired by some of morricones work...) there's a really nice repetetive bass line that pops up a couple of times during the track.

available on CD - le cinma de serge gainsbourg, vol 1

I Dont Need A Doctor  performed by Sheila B. Devotion  1977

Ah, Sheila, resplendent in her purple sequined hotpants, is having such a good time on the cover of this record with her tight-trousered pals. And so she might - for her group have made a blinding record.

She's in love, you see, and it's making her feel ill (not sleeping, sweating etc.) but this is "good" and all the disco nation roars in approval.

Perfect chirpy pop music for everyone.

from Singin' In The Rain (Carrere EMC 3236)

la planete sauvage  performed by alain goraguer  1973

this entire soundtrack to the film la planete sauvage comes highly recommended. never seen the film, but it cant possibly be as good as the soundtrack suggests.
chilly, funky instrumental orchestral music. theres a really haunting recurring theme through the album, nice use of choirs and twangy guitar too.

available on CD - la planete sauvage (soundtrack)

08 May 04 ·HoboTech: Actually, the film La Planete Sauvage is quite good. There are lots of really great visuals that go perfectly with the music. It can be a bit slow at times, and the music is fantastic on its own, but I urge anyone towards viewing of this masterpiece of French cinema.
