Judy and the Dream of Horses  performed by Belle and Sebastian  1996

This is my favourite song of all time. I can really identify with a song about a girl who wants to sleep all the time and dream about horses. Whenever I'm feeling down, I listen to this song and the trumpet line always makes me feel a bit better.

from If You're Feeling Sinister (Matador)

Chattahoochee  performed by Alan Jackson  1992
Composed by Jackson, McBride

Bahaha! I had to put this song up. This is the most ridiculous, cheesy, terrible country song possible, but I love it. The music video features Alan waterskiing wearing his cowboy hat and cowboy boots, and tubing while playing his guitar. Then they all have a ho-down. He is an ultimate cowboy.

Good song for barbequeing.

from A Lot About Livin' (And A Little 'Bout Love) (Arista 18711-2)

Jesusland  performed by Ben Folds  2005
Composed by Ben Folds

This song starts with lush orchestration and a pretty melody, followed by Ben Folds' sweet and wonderful voice, and then the bouncy piano line kicks in and the whole effect is sublime. I really like this song, and I'm not usually much of a Ben Folds fan, even.

from Songs For Silverman (Epic 5170122)

Oh, Alberta  performed by Elliott Brood  2003

I live in Alberta, and seeing as not a lot of people would want to come here, I'm a bit sentimental toward songs that mention the place I'm from. This song really reminds me of home, and is the kind of top quality rootsier alt-country-ish music that hides around these parts. It's catchy and features a banjo.

from Tin Type (Weewerk)

Then He Kissed Me  performed by The Crystals  1963
Composed by Phil Spector, Ellie Greenwich, Jeff Barry

If you want to hear the wall of sound effect, just listen to this song. By the time the second verse comes around, everything has kicked in. The horns plus the rolling accompaniment are just so good.

available on CD - The Crystals (Town Sound)
